We
are breeders located in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York .
We have been involved in Mastiffs (aka
Old English Mastiffs) since 1990 and in the sport of pure bred dogs
since 1961. Showing and breeding dogs is a hobby that has
brought us much pleasure for many years. We believe in health
testing and test our Mastiffs for hip and elbow
dysphasia
using the OFA and we use Optigen DNA
testing for PRA in eyes. Our breeding program is very
selective to produce Mastiffs that meet the A.K.C. standard.
Keeping temperament on the top of list, we
produce beautiful champions and wonderful companions. Our
Mastiffs are raised in a family environment having contact with
children and adults. They leave our home very well socialized!
We are reputable breeders and will not sell to pet shops, puppy
mills or auctions.
A word about our crest...
The crest that we have on our website is Dawn Dujon's maiden
name family crest of "Milstead." They were anciently seated as
the Lords of the Manor, in Kent England, arriving in Virginia in
1774.
IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION:
In order to
assist buyers in verifying OFA hip and elbow reports, please
note that the number listed as OFA
Preliminary hip
or elbow test results is simply a record keeping number and not
a representative of the results of the test. You
must request the full report from your breeder in order to
review the tests findings.
Permanent OFA
testing, however, has the results of the test incorporated in
the actual recorded number as described on the OFA link: http://www.offa.org/numberkey.html
PENN HIP
evaluations are not pass/fail. Instead each dog is
ranked compared to other dogs of that breed. A dog
with a percentile of 30% has a tighter hip than 30% percent
of dogs evaluated, however, 70% percent of the dogs
evaluated have even tighter hips than this patient. In
general, the advice would be to breed only dogs in the top
50%, those with tightest hips or lowest DI as compared with
other dogs of that breed.
PENN HIP, ID
numbers do not carry information, you must see the report to
see the ranked percentile.
